The top two players each won in straight sets Friday — second-seeded Nadal in a 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 whitewashing of sixth-seeded Ferrer and top-seeded Djokovic in a 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 win over No. 3 Federer that didn`t feel that close.

On Sunday , "Rafa" and "Nole" meet and someone will make history: Either Nadal will win his seventh French Open to break the record he now shares with Bjorn Borg or Djokovic will become the first man in 43 years to win four straight Grand Slam tournaments.

And while they`ll have trouble putting on a better show than their last Grand Slam final — the nearly six-hour, five-set drama Djokovic won at the Australian Open — it shouldn`t be hard to stage a more competitive day of tennis than what happened in the semifinals.
I know I have to be playing consistently well on a very high level to win a best-of-five against Nadal here," Djokovic said. "It`s the ultimate challenge. But I believe today was my best match of 2012 Roland Garros for me. I raised my game when I needed to. That`s something that gives me confidence before the final."

The key stat in Djokovic`s win was Federer`s 46 unforced errors to 17 for Djokovic. Federer, a 16-time major championship winner, struggled with the conditions on yet another windy day at Roland Garros, to say nothing of the pressure of having to go for big shots to get anything past his Serbian opponent.
It was difficult to attack," Federer said. "And being defensive — I could have waited a little. But if I were to do this, I was playing for him. I was not here to play a good match but to win the match, so I had to hit the balls. It was a bit disappointing today."

Serving to stay in the first set, Federer missed four forehands over the span of five points en route to the loss.
He came out in the second set and broke after overcoming a 40-0 deficit in the first game, including swatting away a volley winner after Djokovic chased down a lob and hit it between his legs. That came at the close of a 38-shot rally that wound up as the best point of the match.
Federer broke Djokovic again for a 3-0 lead and it appeared a possible repeat of last year`s thrilling U.S. Open semifinal, in which Djokovic saved two match points to win a five-setter, might be in store.
Instead, Djokovic won 13 of the next 18 games to avenge his last defeat in a Grand Slam tournament — a four-set loss to Federer here last year at the same stage of the French Open.
When you come back from double break down against a player like Federer, it`s a success, a great achievement," Djokovic said. "But I can`t allow myself to have that many ups and downs, especially in the next match."
Since his loss to Federer last year, Djokovic has won 27 straight Grand Slam matches, matching Federer for second place on the Open era list. Another win would give Djokovic the non-calendar-year Grand Slam, and if he were to follow that with a win in the first round of Wimbledon, he would share the win-streak record with Rod Laver, the last man to win the four biggest tournaments in a row.

Federer, who has plenty of experience against both of Sunday `s finalists, picked Nadal to win.
I think he`s the overwhelming favorite," Federer said. "We`ll see how it goes."
Nadal`s six French Open titles aren`t the only thing he`s got in common with Borg. Through six matches in this tournament, Rafa has yet to lose a set and has dropped only 35 games. A number that low hasn`t been seen since 1980, when Borg only lost 31. (Borg also holds the record — 27 in 1978).

Ferrer was pretty much helpless to add much to that tally and the story of this match was told early in the second set when Nadal, rushing to retrieve a short ball, lost his balance and fell to the clay. Nadal still managed to get the ball back to Ferrer, who played another short shot, only to see Rafa scramble back to his feet and push back an unreturnable lob.
We were playing a fantastic point. You fall down. But I saw the ball all the time," Nadal said. "Even if I lost the balance of my body, I was watching the ball in every moment. Even if I`m on the floor, I had time to hit the ball in a reasonably good position."
Nadal was in that kind of zone all day, spending most of the match moving Ferrer around the court like a marionette. Ferrer actually had two break points in the first 15 minutes of the match, but couldn`t convert either.
Nadal has now saved 18 of 19 break points against him in this tournament and has won 71 of 72 service games. He has been pushed only one time, and then only briefly — in a 7-6 first-set win against Nicolas Almagro in the quarterfinals.
Ferrer didn`t manage six games in the entire match.
He plays better than me all the time," Ferrer said. "It`s difficult to say something, no? He was better, and he had a very good match."

Errani Finals online video,M. Sharapova v S. Errani Finals Results,2012 French Open  Fixtures.Maria Sharapova and Sara Errani will contest the French Open final on Saturday in what will be a first ever meeting between the two 25-year-olds.Second-seeded Russian Sharapova won through with a 6-3, 6-3 win over fourth seed Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic, while 21st seed Errani of Italy ousted Australian sixth seed Samantha Stosur 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.

The stakes could hardly be higher for Sharapova, who is already assured of regaining the world number one spot she last held in 2008 before a shoulder injury nearly wrecked her career.

The 2004 Wimbledon, 2006 US Open and 2008 Australian Open champion, will become just the 10th woman to complete a career Grand Slam if she takes Saturday's final, her first at Roland Garros.

Errani, who was not rated among the favourites for the title coming into Paris despite winning three claycourt build-up tournaments, will be playing in her first Grand Slam final.

A win would make her just the second Italian woman to win the French Open title after Francesca Schiavone two years ago.

Sharapova will start as a strong favourite and if she can reproduce the kind of form she showed against Wimbledon champion Kvitova, Errani could struggle to counter her power.

Sharapova, at an imposing 1.88m, and Kvitova, just 5cm shorter, both struggled for accuracy in the testing conditions on Philippe Chatrier court, where the wind whipped up the clay and helped balls sail out.

But it was Sharapova who quickly adapted her game, not hitting for the lines as is her strength and the tactic paid off.

SHARAPOVA NOTES
With her SF win over Kvitova, Sharapova returns to WTA World No.1 for the first time in 4 years; she became the first
Russian player to claimthe No.1 ranking (week of August 25, 2005), and held it for a total of 17 non-consecutive weeks,
most recently in 2008.
Sharapova has now advanced to the final at all 4 Grand Slams; she is 3-3 in her first 6 Grand Slamfinals.
Roland Garros is the only Grand Slam title missing from Sharapova’s resume; she is bidding to become the 10th woman to complete a career Grand Slam (6th in Open Era).
In the Open Era, 8 women have won 3 of the 4 GS titles, including Sharapova. Of those 8 women, 5 have reached the
final of the Grand Slam tournament that they have not won.
Sharapova is trying to complete a career Grand Slam; she would become the 10th player to accomplish this feat (6th in
Open Era).
Sharapova has reached the final at 3 of the last 4 Slams (also R-Up at 2011Wimbledon and 2012 Australian Open; lost
3r at 2011 USOpen).
Sharapova has reached the final in 6 of her 8 WTA events this year (2-3 in finals).
With 26 career singles titles, Sharapova currently ranks 4th among active players behind Venus Williams (43), Serena
Williams (41) and Kim Clijsters (41); additionally, she ranks 19th on the all-time list of title winners.
4 of Sharapova’s last 5 titles have been on clay (2010 Strasbourg, 2011 Rome, 2012 Stuttgart, 2012 Rome; also 2011
Cincinnati – hard court); she haswon a total of 5 clay court titles (also 2008 Amelia Island).
In 2012 Sharapova has lost just once to a player ranked outside the Top 20:No.27 Kerber in QF at Paris [Indoors].

Goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, right-back Aleksandr Anyukov and striker Roman Pavlyuchenko all emerged from their final training session unscathed following knocks.
Czech striker Milan Baros returned to training on Thursday after recovering from the thigh strain that sidelined him earlier in the week.
Tomas Rosicky had been a concern but is now fit after a calf problem.
Russia, who reached the semi-finals four years ago, recorded an impressive 3-0 friendly win over Italy last week but coach Dick Advocaat is in cautious mood.
One friendly victory, even if it was a thrashing of Italy, doesn't make us the Euro favourites," said Advocaat, who is stepping down after the finals to take over Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.
We should remain realists - it was just a warm-up game.
t's good that we scored three goals against Italy to boost our team's self-confidence but we still need to improve our defence to avoid serious problems in the group matches with the Czechs, Poland and Greece."

Rosicky believes Arsenal team-mate Andrey Arshavin, who left The Emirates on loan in January to rejoin Zenit St Petersburg, is Russia's main threat.
He said: "When you watch matches of the Russian team, Andrey is still the key player in the national team.
Andrey is still a great player, and there's no doubt he will represent an enormous danger for us."
MATCH PREVIEW

It was under their former guises that both the Soviets (1960) and the Czechs (1976) enjoyed European Championship glory, the only major trophy that either nation can lay claim to. Historically, the Czechs have saved their best form for this competition and have qualified on all five occasions since their "velvet divorce" from Slovakia in 1993. Sixteen years ago, they famously lost out to Oliver Bierhoff's golden goal as Germany won the final of Euro 96, while in 2004 it took surprise package Greece to stop them at the semi-final stage. Russia reached the last four in 2008 under Dutchman Guus Hiddink, losing out to eventual winners Spain. They have another Dutchman at the helm this time around in Dick Advocaat, although he will leave at the end of the tournament.

The Russians start as favourites to qualify from Group A, perceived by many as the easiest to advance from. Advocaat has selected a squad largely based on the talent assembled by Hiddink four years ago. With an average age of just over 28, there is a sense that this particular Russian side is in its peak, having grown up together. Despite not qualifying for the 2010 World Cup, this could be their chance to shine.

Michal Bilek's Czech side faced a battle simply to qualify, eventually pipping Scotland to a runners-up spot and then edging out Montenegro in a play-off to book their place at Euro 2012. They will benefit from playing all three group matches in the Polish city of Wroclaw, roughly 59 miles from the Polish/Czech border. They may not be official co-hosts but the Czechs have gate-crashed the party and are primed to make the most of their neighbour's hospitality.

Bookmakers offer odds of 700/1 on Poland and Greece being reunited in Kiev for this year's final on 1 July, but while neither side are amongst the favourites for the tournament, both teams go into this match in form. The Poles have lost just once in their last dozen games, while Greece have suffered only one defeat in 21 matches since coach Fernando Santos took over from Otto Rehhagel two years ago.

The Poles, 62nd in the latest Fifa rankings, are the lowest rated side at Euro 2012 but that perhaps doesn't reflect the progress they have made in the last 12 months.

The emergence of Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny plus Borussia Dortmund trio Robert Lewandowski, Jakub Blaszczykowski and Lukasz Piszczek means the Poles can count on at least four players who proved themselves at the highest level this season.

The spine of the team has also been strengthened by the introduction of French-born duo Ludovic Obraniak and Damien Perquis, plus German-raised pair Eugen Polanski and Sebastian Boenisch.

Poland coach Franciszek Smuda originally promised to play "offensive and attractive football" but a 6-0 thrashing from Spain proved a reality check, and he has now instead constructed a cautious, counter-attacking side, with Lewandowski leading the line as a lone striker. However, the onus will be on the home side to attack in Warsaw, especially with their second game coming against Group A favourites Russia.

A high-scoring affair is perhaps unlikely, given the Poles have kept clean sheets in their last five games and Greece were the lowest scorers in qualifying with just 14 goals. However, history suggests there will be at least one goal at Warsaw's National Stadium - only once before has the European Championship begun with a goalless draw. That was back in 1968, when Italy won their semi-final against the Soviet Union on a coin toss after a 0-0 stalemate.

Petrova Results,2012 French Open Finals Wo MEN'S  Fixtures.Italian Sara Errani produced a determined performance against Samantha Stosur of Australia to beat her for the first time in career six meetings and reached the final of French Open 2012.Stosur got a early break at 2-0 in the opening set of the match but got herself broken immediately in the next game. Both players displayed gritty tennis after that and no breaks were exchanged until 6-5, where Errani broke Stosur for the second time in the set and then successfully served out a set lead in the match.

Even though the Australian hammered 22 winners but also committed 12 unforced errors, which did not allow her to make a comeback in the first-set contest.

Match Cast: Stosur vs Errani

The second set saw the resurgence of Stosur in the match as she upped the level of her play and gave away only one game in the set to take the match into the deciding set. Stosur arrowed 6 aces and slammed 23 winners to over-power Errani in the set.

In the deciding set, Errani raced to 3-0 lead and it looked she might had a last laugh but Stosur refused to go without a fight and bounced back to level the scores at 3-3 in the set. The Italian got another break of serve at 5-3 and then served out for the match.

She now awaits the winner of second semi-final to be played between World No 2 Russian Maria Sharapova and World No 4 Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic.

Ferrer Results,2012 French Open Semifinals Men's Singles  Fixtures. The most beloved Spanish tennis pair in many ways – they are not just good friends or David Cup mates, but both Rafael Nadal and David Ferrer belong to the exceptional category of those role-model sportspersons, who have been instrumental in inspiring a generation of people – striving hard in their day to day lives to make their presence felt in crowd. So, it’s not only the expectations that soar, when these super-stars play against each other, but one thing that highlight such contests is that these giants of the game take this sport to a whole new level – and enthral us by proving that yes, it is possible. These Spanish superstars of tennis will be up against each other on Friday for a place in the final of the 2012 French Open.

When it comes to their on-court demeanour and work-ethics – both surely complement each other, but in terms of performance – Nadal has surpassed his compatriot with a huge gap. Currently ranked as World No. 2, Rafa has a 12-match winning streak against Ferrer on clay – that says it all about his prominence. In head-to-head, Nadal apparently leads with 15-4 against Ferrer. Their recent meeting came in Rome Masters semi-final, where Nadal topped his compatriot in straight sets.

Last season, Nadal managed to save some grace on court – especially against Djokovic, as he defended his title at Roland Garros or it would have been a one-way traffic for the Serbian World No. 1, as he subdued the Spaniard in six finals. And, every time he looked better than Nadal. It seems that Nadal took all this losses so seriously that he scrutinized every little detail about his game – an now we have a more resilient and sorted Nadal, who has been looking flawless at Roland Garros. Nadal mustered his 50th win on the Parisian Clay on Wednesday after subduing his compatriot Nicolas Almagro and now his record stands as 50-1 here. With this victory, Nadal also joined the elite club of those contenders who have won 50 or more matches here at Roland Garros with: Guillermo Vilas (56), Roger Federer (54), Ivan Lendl (53), Andre Agassi (51) and Nicola Pietrangeli (50).

If we compare the records and Nadal’s overall prominence on clay, then it appears apparently intimidating for Ferrer. But, the most interesting thing about Ferrer is that he never really bothers about his opponents and that allows him to stay firm among the bests – and no one can afford to feel a bit complacent against Ferrer. The Spaniard battled two rain breaks and some devastating backhand shots to thwart the challenge of fourth seed Andy Murray on Wednesday with a 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-2 scoreline. Ferrer has shown tremendous consistency this season, but when it comes to Nadal, he will have to rely on a little bit of luck to beat the defending champion.

It was way back in 2004, when Ferrer earned his last victory against Nadal on clay. We don’t need to scrutinize more details as Nadal appears heavy favourite here. But, in the end, it’s a sport, where you can never rule out a surprise result or upset.
