After a not so good sequence, drawing three consecutive matches, Corinthians now come from a 3-2 win against Atletico Mineiro, after ending the first half losing 2-0. These poor matches happen to be those in which their defensive quality dropped, allowing opponents to score ten times in the last seven matches. With Liedson back, even when not scoring, their attack improved in the last matches, scoring five times in last two games. Also, Alex has been on his best form since he joined Corinthians, with two of these five goals.
Figueirense are still in the middle of the table, and if they didn’t have had an improvement in the last rounds, winning two of their last four games, they would’ve been closer to the relegation zone, and their away form is the main reason for that. They have a draw and a loss in their last two matches though – 2-2 against Flamengo and 3-0 against Fluminense – proving there are not a very strong side.
