The Spurs boss left a whole of host senior figures at home for their opening Group A fixture, which ended in a goalless draw against PAOK Salonika.

And he is expected to do the same again despite it being a derby of sorts against the side from Dublin.

However, the bad news for Rovers is that Redknapp still intends to field a side containing 'seven or eight' internationals, although he insists Spurs will not be taking the match lightly.

"Players like Gareth Bale and Adebayor will not play. I can't afford to miss them for the weekend," he said.

"It's a game we're entitled to win. But they will rise to the big occasion. They're a good side and have done well."

Lennon fit

Aaron Lennon is expected to start the game after overcoming a groin problem while Danny Rose is back to full fitness following an ankle injury lay-off and Redknapp also hopes Roman Pavlyuchenko (hamstring) and Steven Pienaar (groin) will play some part.

Giovani dos Santos, Andros Townsend, Jake Livermore and Tom Carroll are likely to figure but Michael Dawson (Achilles), William Gallas (calf) and Tom Huddlestone, who underwent an ankle operation on Monday are all out.

Redknapp admits the highly-anticipated fixture against North London rivals Arsenal at the weekend has distracted his focus slightly.

"I have got two eyes on the derby. I'm not putting my first team out tomorrow but it'll be a team with some good, experienced players that will contain probably seven or eight internationals," he added.

Duo back
The Dublin-based team became the first Irish club to qualify for the main stages of a European competition earlier this summer when they upset the odds to beat Partizan Belgrade 3-2 on aggregate.

Rovers, who boast former Spurs player Rohan Ricketts among their ranks, were given a swift reminder of the tough nature of European competition two weeks ago when they were hammered 3-0 at home to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan.

Head coach Michael O'Neill will take his side to England, which the club last visited during the 1957-58 season when they took on Manchester United in the European Cup, but ended up losing 9-2 on aggregate.

Defenders Craig Sives (groin) and Ken Oman (knee) both missed the 5-2 win over Bray Wanderers at the weekend but they're expected to return for the game.

O'Neill admitted: "Tottenham will be a tough challenge."
