Venue: Emirates Stadium
MATCH PREVIEW
As Arsenal unravel, it is questionable whether the club's manager, players and supporters could cope with a taming by the Shrews.
Shrewsbury, from the bottom division of the Football League, are playing in the third round of the League Cup for the first time since 1993.
They beat Premier League newcomers Swansea to get to this stage, but a victory over Arsenal - no matter how unfamiliar the Gunners' line-up may be - would far exceed that achievement.
Arsenal's psychological torment continued with the 4-3 league defeat by previously bottom-of-the-table Blackburn on Saturday. Arsene Wenger's side have made their worst start to a season since 1953 but their current problems can be traced to last season's Carling Cup final; since gifting victory to Birmingham at Wembley, Arsenal have won just three of 16 league matches and their failure to win a trophy hastened the departures of influential players Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
