Celtic will be hoping to get their Europa League campaign up and running against highly-rated Italian side Udinese at Parkhead.

Neil Lennon's Bhoys lost their Group I opener to Atletico Madrid in Spain and now face Udinese, who are currently joint-top of Serie A and who beat Ligue 1 side Rennes in their first group fixture.

Celtic will be eager to keep things tight from the off after finding themselves behind in the opening minutes in both the away qualifier to Sion in Switzerland and their game against Atletico in Spain and were unable to recover, losing on each occasion.

The SPL giants are perhaps the least fancied of all four teams to make the knockout stages but after the 2-0 win over Inverness at the weekend at least they enter the game on the back of success.

Celtic news

Gary Hooper has shrugged off an ankle knock ahead of the visit of Udinese and he is sure to lead the line for Lennon's side.

Kris Commons has recovered from a groin strain and illness but has just started his rehabilitation and will not be considered while left-back Badr El-Kaddouri is cup-tied.

Long-term injured Emilio Izaguirre, Kelvin Wilson and Cha Du-ri are still out while Scott Brown is hoping to have recovered from his ankle injury for the game against Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Udinese news
The visitors are set to be without star striker Antonio di Natale after head coach Francesco Guidolin conceded he was "tired" and would be given time off.

Indications are that Diego Fabbrini - the 21-year-old attacking midfield player - is set to back up Almen Abdi, a midfielder who will be asked to lead the line.

The only striker who travelled is 17-year-old Davide Marsura who will start on the bench.
