FC Porto vs Shakhtar Donetsk UEFA Champions League Preview
Andre Villas-Boas takes charge of his first ever UEFA Champions League game as Chelsea kick off their European season against Bayer Leverkusen.
The Blues get their Group E campaign underway at Stamford Bridge and confidence is high in West London after an unbeaten start to the new season.
Villas-Boas, though, has already suggested that he is ready to make changes with one eye on Sunday's crunch clash with Manchester United.
Bayer come into the game also in good form, after losing their opening league match they have since gone unbeaten in their next four.
The match will also see a return to Chelsea for Michael Ballack, who returned to Bayer after his departure from the Bridge last summer.
And Ballack is relishing the chance of playing, saying: "I am looking forward to playing there. Emotionally this will certainly be a special match for me."
Team news
Villas-Boas has already admitted changes are likely but he is already without Ramires, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien through suspension and injury.
Youngsters Romelu Lukaku and Ryan Betrand are ineligible, so he is only likely to tweak his line-up rather than make wholesale changes.
Fernando Torres was dropped again at the weekend, but he could be given the chance to lead the line for the Blues.
Reports have suggested that captain John Terry, Frank Lampard and Nicolas Anelkacould all be rested. David Luiz, John Obi Mikel are candidates to start.
Bayer are also under a new coach this season in Robin Dutt, and he is yet to fix on a first-choice line-up, but Stefan Kiessling looks set to lead the line as a lone front-man.
Lars Bender looks set to play despite having knee problems, but Tranquillo Barnetta and Bastian Oczipka are definite absentees.
In goal Bayer will continue to use third choice Bernd Leno because number one Rene Adler has not played since knee surgery in July, whilst his understudy Fabian Giefer has yet to recover from concussion suffered at the beginning of August.
