Manager Malky Mackay will also be looking to resolve problems in defence having leaked six goals in the last two matches.
Centre-back Ben Turner, who has returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines following a knee injury, played both matches and may be rested.
Cardiff are looking to rediscover their early-season form having only won once in their last six league matches.
Barnsley manager Keith Hill must decide whether to retain striker Craig Davies in his starting line-up.
Davies made his first start since August in the midweek win over Burnley after recovering from a groin injury but Hill admitted the summer signing from Chesterfield is not fully match fit.
