Team news ahead of Peterborough's Championship clash against Doncaster at London Road on Saturday.Gabby Zakuani will continue to play through the pain barrier for Peterborough. The defender suffered a broken toe in a Carling Cup tie against Stevenage last month but has started Posh's last five matches with the aid of pain-killing injections.Boss Darren Ferguson has Scott Wootton and Josh Thompson available as cover but has been anxious to keep Zakuani in the side and continues to assess the 25-year-old's fitness on a match-by-match basis.A few other unnamed players are nursing knocks but Ferguson expects them to be fit.Lee Tomlin's ankle injury is not as bad as first thought and the forward is only expected to be missing for around a month.Pascal Chimbonda is set to make his Doncaster bow.The French defender, who was Dean Saunders' first signing since becoming Rovers manager, has been granted clearance to appear against Posh.Saunders has enjoyed a good start since taking over, collecting four points from his first two games in charge, but Rovers remain bottom of the Championship table. This is a game featuring two sides who were tipped to struggle immensely at the start of the season. With both Peterborough and Doncaster seen as two of the smaller fish in the Championship, bookmakers didn’t waste any time in labeling them as relegation candidates. For Doncaster, those tips appear correct, with Rovers currently sat bottom of the table after a dismal opening nine games. Peterborough on the other hand are impressing many and Posh head into this clash sat just outside the playoff places in 8th.

After an absolutely horrific spell in this division a couple of years ago, there was not much optimism as Peterborough returned for round two in the Championship. However, Darren Ferguson certainly appears to have learned from his mistakes with his Posh side sitting in a healthy position after collecting thirteen points from their opening games. They approach this fixture with some good form behind them as well after winning two of their last three and their confidence will have received a further boost after the goal that landed them their latest three points was scored in the 95th minute of play. With Posh also having a reasonable record at London Road, Ferguson will be in defiant mood as the club prepare to host the division’s strugglers.

While Doncaster may be struggling at the moment, there is a lot of hope at the Keepmoat Stadium that all of that could change. The last couple of weeks have certainly been chaotic for all at Doncaster after Sean O’Driscoll was suddenly relieved of his duties. Dean Saunders was the man to take over and it looks as though the former Wrexham boss is bringing a wealth of important contacts with him, with Doncaster linked with many big name players over the past week. Saunders is represented by one of the game’s leading agents and that now means that Doncaster have access to a lot of talented players. Pascal Chimbonda has been Saunders’ first major signing and it’s thought that more are to follow in the near future. With Rovers picking up four points in Saunders’ opening two games, their supporters will definitely be more optimistic than they were several weeks ago.

As for team news, Peterborough approach this game sweating on the fitness of Gabby Zakuani who recently suffered a broken toe. A late decision will be made on the former Stoke man, who will have painkilling injections if he does feature. Doncaster’s injury problems have eased in recent weeks although Rovers will still be missing James Chambers, Adam Lockwood, Martin Wood and Chris Brown. However, Dean Saunders is almost certain to throw in Pascal Chimbonda for his debut.

Had this game been played a few weeks ago, our tip would have been a certain Peterborough victory. However, Doncaster have found a new life under Dean Saunders and with that, our prediction will be a 1-1 draw.
