Rovers manager Steve Kean will be looking for a win to climb out of the relegation zone, and ease some of the intense pressure he is feeling from the Ewood Park fans.

Chelsea will be looking to avoid losing a third straight Premier League game, and will likely have had their confidence dented by a 5-3 home defeat to Arsenal last weekend.

David Dunn and Junior Hoilett will return from injury for Rovers and are expected to start.

Canadian striker Hoilett has impressed this season and scored his first goal of the campaign in last weekend's 3-3 draw with Norwich City. Hoilett’s contract expires at the end of the season and Kean is hoping to extend his commitment in the near future.

“I was told that the directors were dealing with that. I don’t know what stage it's at,” Kean told BBC Sport. “I’m having a meeting with (sporting director) Simon Hunt to see where we are with representatives. I’ll also speak to Junior to find out where we’re at because we need to be pushing this over the line.”

Didier Drogba is ruled out for Chelsea, while Michael Essien is a long term injury absentee. Under-fire captain John Terry will return for Chelsea after being rested for the midweek UEFA Champions League draw with KRC Genk.
