Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross is suspended after picking up five yellow cards this season.
Midfielder Glenn Whelan is a doubt with a calf injury, while full-back Andy Wilkinson is likely to miss out again with a back problem.Manchester City go into their final home game of the year having dropped only two Premier League points at home in 2011, the year in which they ended their long wait for silverware by winning the FA Cup final... against Stoke.
It would be quite a surprise if Tony Pulis' side can get revenge so quickly. City have been the best side in the league by a distance this season and they should actually be further ahead of the rest. Their eventual defeat at Stamford Bridge was unfathomable after a first half in which they utterly outplayed Chelsea.

Stoke have been a little inconsistent so far this season. Maybe it's the considerable extra workload of the Europa League matches, but you would not normally associate them with the kind of heavy defeats they suffered against Sunderland and Bolton.
Nevertheless they are eighth, with every chance of finishing higher than in any season since they were fifth in 1975. If they can do that, and stay competitive in Europe at the same time, then Pulis would have pulled off a masterstroke.
They can trouble City, and they probably will for spells in this game - but I can't see them avoiding defeat.
