In the previous few weeks Utrecht have sacked four members of their backroom staff, including assistant coaches John van Loen and David Nascimento, with chairman Jan Willem van Dop citing bad chemistry between the group.
The sense of crisis has intensified this week with head coach Willem van Hanegem, who survived the cull, being taken ill, leaving new assistant manager Ton du Chatinier in charge for the game against De Graafschap with board member Piet Buter assisting him.
And Van Stee is confident his side can record the win that would see them leapfrog their opponents in the league table.
I find it nice, of course, that there is so much unrest at that club at the moment,'' he said. "That might help us tomorrow.
If things go well on Thursday I think we will also have a good chance on Sunday, against Volendam. We need a good result against Utrecht to get in the mood.''
The De Graafschap coach's opposite number on Thursday, Ton du Chatinier, is under no illusions as to the task facing his side as they look to record their first win at the Vijverberg Stadium since 2003.
"There is nothing else to do other than focus on the match'', said Ton du Chatinier. "We are a better team, but De Graafschap can work very hard and make it very difficult for us to win, especially with them playing at home.''
Cedric van der Gun and Morten Skoubo have returned to training but will not play against De Graafschap.
Hugo Bargas, who has played only one Eredivisie match after signing in the summer, is in contention to start for De Graafschap having recovering from a wrist injury.
But Van Stee is still without injured trio Stephan Keller, Purrel Frankel and Rene Bot.
