Both teams have only won twice in their last ten league fixtures, with Liverpool recording an unprecedented seven losses in that time.
Despite rallying against Chelsea from two goals down last time out, Aston Villa still went on to lose 4-2. They will be hoping that they are not dragged into a relegation scrap, but with victory at Stamford Bridge already this season and Liverpool’s relatively unimpressive home record,  the Villains do have some grounds for optimism.

Team News
After the announcement last week that captain Stilyan Petrov is to undergo treatment for Leukaemia, the Bulgarian is naturally unavailable for selection.
In addition to Petrov’s absence, Villa have worries over the fitness of winger Charles N’Zogbia and full-back Alan Hutton, who are rated as 50-50 for Saturday. Spaniard Carlos Cuellar is definitely ruled out, while promising defender Ciaran Clarke has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury. Darren Bent is also still unavailable.
Lucas is still recovering from the serious knee injury sustained last November whilst Charlie Adam still has no timeframe set for his return. Glen Johnson and Dan Agger are expected to recover in time from hamstring and rib injuries respectively to face Villa on Saturday. Pepe Reina is banned following his red card at Newcastle last Sunday.

Possible starting XIs:
Liverpool: Doni, Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Enrique, Henderson, Gerrard, Spearing, Downing, Bellamy, Suarez.

Aston Villa: Given, Hutton, Baker, Collins, Warnock, Albrighton, Herd, Gardner, Ireland, Agbonlahor, Heskey
