Round 6 of the 2011 DTM championship season kicks off this weekend, with the series heading to the historic Nurburgring circuit to do battle.
As usual, Richard’s F1 will providing you with the latest results and analysis from what promises to be another closely-fought round in the championship. Let’s have a look at the form guide and make a few predictions for the weekend…
Nestled in the now-extinct volcanic region of the Eifel mountains, the Nürburgring is located between the small towns of Adenau and Nüburg.
More widely-known as the home of the ‘green hell’, the incredible Nürburgring Norschleife circuit, the modern-day autodrome has been in operation since the mid-1980s, playing host to several rounds of the Formula 1 World Championship.
The DTM uses just part of the Grand Prix circuit, with the cars bypassing the Valvoline, Ford, Dunlop and Shell Curves with a right-hand hairpin after the cars exit the fiddly Mercedes Arena complex that starts the lap.
The track presents two serious overtaking opportunities as a result – by dint of the Dunlop Hairpin not being used – with drivers able to attempt a pass at the handbrake-like Turn 1, or into the famous Veedol Chicane.
