Saints were also in Challenge Cup action last weekend and suffered an 18-4 defeat to Wigan Warriors, but coach Brian McDermott will be hoping they can bounce back to winning ways, but Ladbrokes have installed them as 15/8 second favourites for tonight’s tie with the Rhinos currently available at 4/9 to land the victory.
Rhinos Centre Kallum Watkins has been sidelined for six weeks with a knee injury and could return to the fold this evening and he is available at 12/1 with Ladbrokes to score the first try, but Ryan Hall currently heads that market at 9/1 to continue his tryscoring form and go over the whitewash first this evening.
After resting players in the comfortable victory over Leigh, Rhinos could also bring back the talismanic Jamie Peacock, whilst Brett Delaney and Carl Ablett could force their way back in to what looks a strong side from the home team.
Chris Flannery was the hat-trick hero for Saints in their last Super League outing as they ran in eight tries to beat Wakefield and he is available at 25/1 to get the first dab at Headingley, whilst the classy Michael Shenton could be overpriced at 16/1 to score first in what will see an array of international talent strut their stuff.
Both sets of fans will certainly yearn for a change in fortunes for their clubs as they both look to cement their places in the higher echelons of the Super League table, but if Saints can return to the tryscoring form they showed when beating Wakefield they could cause problems for the Leeds defence and Ladbrokes’ price of Evens for Saints -6 could be the one to be with in what looks a cracking game in front of the Sky cameras.
Return
The Rhinos are boosted by the return of highly-rated centre Kallum Watkins, who has played since Leeds' Good Friday defeat to the Bradford Bulls due to a medial strain.
Jamie Peacock, Brett Delaney and Carl Ablett are also back after missing last Friday's Challenge Cup quarter-final win at Leigh.
Winger Ben Jones-Bishop misses out this week and will play no part against Mike Rush's men.
Rush has made one change to his 19-man squad from the team which bowed out of the Challenge Cup at the hands of rivals Wigan.
Tony Puletua returns from injury replacing Andy Dixon, otherwise the 19 is the same as the one which lost at the DW Stadium.
Leeds squad: Webb, Watkins, Hardaker, Hall, McGuire, Burrow, Leuluai, McShane, Peacock, Jones-Buchanan, Ablett, Sinfield, L. Smith, Bailey, Clarkson, Hauraki, Griffin, Moore, Lunt.
St Helens squad: Wellens, Shenton, Soliola, Meli, Hohaia, Lomax, Perry, Roby, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Puletua, Wilkin, Flannery, Laffranchi, Flanagan, Clough, Wheeler, Magennis, Makinson, J. Jones.
