The Portuguese side, Europa League runners-up to domestic rivals Porto last season, got the group phase off to a strong start with a 3-1 win Birmingham on matchday one, and are now looking to build on that with three points against a team he views as his side's chief rivals.
Brugge also opened their account with a victory - 2-0 over Maribor - and Jardim is eager to open up some daylight at the head of the standings by stifling the visitors' attacking instincts.
"It's a team that has a type of game similar to the Dutch," said Jardim.
"They have a lot of support with many players participating in offensive actions, and we must counter this by imposing heavy pressure and the Braga style of play."
The win over Birmingham was Braga's best ever win on the road in UEFA competition, but it is at home that they traditionally thrive, with an unbeaten European record at the Estadio Municipal stretching back seven games.
Brugge, conversely, are without a win in five on their travels and Braga's Brazilian striker Alan hopes those trends continue on Thursday night.
"I hope it stays that way," said Alan. "They lose away and we win at home. We will do everything to make it happen.
"They have to come here and feel the strength that we have at home."
Braga come into the match in good form domestically, with their run of four wins and two draws at the start of the new Portuguese Liga campaign seeing them level on points with traditional heavyweights Porto and Benfica.
Brugge are also in fine fettle domestically, leading the standings after eight games, and their Spanish midfielder Victor Vazquez is expecting a close tussle on Thursday night.
"Braga will be an important test for the club," said Vazquez.
"The Portuguese league is better than the competition in Belgium, but Brugge is actually a bigger name than Braga!
"Our opponent has a very strong team, which combines physical strength with technical ability.
"We must not, however, be afraid. If we can move the ball well, we have a chance to take points.
"Braga played the final of the Europa League last season, but Club Brugge has also had its moments of glory in history. I think we can reconnect with these beautiful performances."
Villareal are currently busy preparing for the visit of Belgian outfit Club Brugge later tonight. The match is scheduled to take place at the El Madrigal stadium, where Villareal will be looking to pick up their first points of the Europa League Group stages.

Villareal managed to get their La Liga and Europa League season off on a bad note. They lost both the opening games in both the tournaments. However the team has managed to get four back to back victories in the La Liga after that opening day defeat. The team will be looking to reproduce the same run in the Europa League starting tonight.

The Villareal manager, Juan Carlos Garrido, was reported to have said, "Winning this game would open up the path for us to qualify for the next round. We are aware of what we're playing for and the team knows the importance of the match. As such, I'm sure they will give it everything on the pitch.

"There are still five games left but it's clear that we need to win because to get through we need to get more than 10 points.''

The team's opponents, who will be traveling all the way from Beligum, have had a decent start to their season domestically. The team is currently placed sixth, but considering that they are also participating in Europe, that is a pretty good position to be in.

Garrido, however, did not wish to take any chances in his game tonight and said that he would be looking at Brugge as the favorites tonight, just so he could get the players to perform even better. He said, "Brugge know that they are coming to a difficult ground to play against a strong and important team. Therefore they will give it their all to get a positive result.”

"We will try to play our game but whilst always respecting our opponents. Brugge have three or four players of great quality, but we aren't going to face just them, but a whole team that plays at a high level”

Villareal will however have to go into tonight's game without talismanic midfielder and Spanish international, Marcos Senna, who currently serving a match suspension after being shown a red card previously in the tournament.

The experts are predicting that Villareal will pick up the three points in tonight’s game, despite not having their most prized asset. That is of course unless Brugge decide to pull off an upset in the game tonight.
