Celtic face the unenviable task of facing Atletico Madrid in tonight's Europa League Group I clash, but will have to do without captain Scott Brown and Anthony Stokes, who are both recovering from injuries.
The pair are being rested in the hope they can make full recoveries for this weekend's Old Firm derby andCeltic assistant Johan Mjallby is hopeful both Brown and Stokes can recover in time for Sunday's visit to Ibrox.
"I think it is too early to say," explained the Swede.
"Unfortunately they will not be available for tomorrow night but they still have a chance for Sunday.
"Anthony has a thigh strain, he shouldn't be too bad but we were surprised to see that he picked it up in training yesterday and that's it, we have to deal with it."
Celtic could be forgiven for counting themselves a little luck to be appearing in the group stages after losing their play-off game against Swiss side FC Sion, only for them to be thrown out of the competition for fielding ineligible players.
"The main thing is that we are in the draw and that's the way it should be because they played with some players who weren't allowed to play and Uefa have made the decision that we are in the group stages," added Mjallby.
There is, however, nothing lucky about the group Celtic have been drawn in, and the Scottish team will know they face the prospect of having to get results against Udinese and Rennes.
Celtic will also be without Daniel Majstorovic, who is is suspended after picking up a red card in the play-off second leg in Sion, whileBadr El-Kaddouri, on loan from Dinamo Kiev, is cup-tied for the tournament.
While Atletico lost star strikers Sergio Aguero and Diego Forlan over the summer, the club have brought in Radamel Falcao from Porto, who scored the winner in last year's Europa League final.
