Venue: Britannia Stadium

MATCH PREVIEW

Stoke and Tottenham approach the game in contrasting moods having been at opposite ends of 4-0 scorelines at the weekend.

The Potters' heavy defeat by Sunderland was their first in 10 competitive games this season and, coming three days after a trip to Kiev, will raise questions about how well-equipped they are to deal with a hectic programme of European and domestic action.

Spurs were at their fluent best in overwhelming Liverpool on Sunday - proof that they have put heavy defeats by the two Manchester clubs behind them.

For both sides this will be a third game in six days after Europa League assignments last week, meaning Tony Pulis and Harry Redknapp are likely to rest many of their first-choice players.

As such, this tie will test the strength of their respective squads - something that may give Spurs the edge.
