Before the bashing begins I have to say that I watch this show every week without exception. First, I would like to say that I know this show is a big hit, but there's 2 main reasons that it's a hit. 1. The music- The voices and actor/singers that they have are incredible. 2. It's a brand new concept for TV. It hasn't been done and there are no other alternatives just yet. Besides the singing though, nearly every single aspect of it is a total joke. I literally can't imagine worse writing. OK, so I'm wondering who's job it is to "relate" to the audience. Nearly every episode mentions what's "cool" or not. Fin talks repeatedly about needing to be the QB on the football team to be cool and it comes up a lot. It's unreal. I cannot think of one time in HS that the actual word "cool" every came up. Popularity altogether doesn't come up. Even though it's on 90% of students minds, it's not talked about, ever. In fact, I can't think of anything less cool than talking about needing to be cool. It's ridiculous and makes me cringe each time they talk about it on the show(which is always). The next thing is Kurts gay issues and I ESPECIALLY hated an altercation Kurt's father had with Fin just after Fin moves into their house. Is the show saying that a gay mans constant advances are just to be accepted no matter what? Kurt should just be able to do whatever the hell he pleases because he is gay? This show uses touchy subjects that they know nobody will argue with and go way over the edge with them. Their gay story lines, especially with Kurt and Fin is unbearable and makes me want to throw the TV through a window. Basically we're all to believe that because Kurt is gay, Fin is supposed to go along with whatever he wants and be a total pushover. It's nauseating. The songs on this show are very good, sometimes awesome. That's all though. It's popular because it's a new concept, a relatively new show, and has great singing but once another comes along like it that makes any sort of sense at all, Glee will be squashed.Glee follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to transform the school's once top-flight, but now moribund Glee Club and inspire a group of talented but unfocused performers to make it to, and win, the biggest competition of them all: Nationals. In his way is not just the indifferent principal, but also the sponsors of the cheerleading and football groups both of whom see his efforts as detracting from their own. In addition to the regular cast, GLEE has featured guest appearances by a wide range of talented performers, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Carol Burnett, John Stamos, Britney Spears, Kristen Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Molly Shannon, Olivia Newton-John and Neil Patrick Harris, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
